Pre-Dance Level 1

Students are introduced to basic dance technique in a fun and creative atmosphere. Simple dance exercises and musical games help young students develop coordination, rhythm and basic movement skills.

Available to students 4-5 years of age.

Pre-Dance Level 2

Creativity and fun is balanced with the learning of more advanced movement skills. Students are encouraged to further develop coordination, flexibility and rhythm. A greater emphasis is placed on the learning of dance steps.

Designed for students 5-6 years of age.

Ballet

This program exposes students to the time-honoured art of classical ballet. Emphasis is placed on precise technique, correct body alignment and grace of movement. Students will also gain a clear understanding of theory and terminology. More advanced students, who have developed the necessary strength, will receive classical pointe training. Ballet classes lay a strong foundation for any dance program.

Jazz

Jazz classes are available to students 6 years and older. This program is designed to help develop strength, flexibility and cardiovascular endurance. Classes will include warm-ups, stretch and strength, center work and movement combinations. Students will have the opportunity to study traditional jazz styles and less restricting modern styles.

Tap

Students 6 years and older will have fun learning all the fast and fancy footwork associated with tap. This program centres on the important aspects of tap dancing including coordination, timing and clarity of sound. Tap dancing improves endurance and is a fun way of staying in shape.

Lyrical

The combining of ballet technique with the freedom of jazz and contemporary dance. Lyrical dance places an emphasis on balance, extension and control while using the body to express emotion.

Tap

Hip Hop

Get up and move. Get down and funky. This high energy program will give students the opportunity to learn the latest street-style dance moves. Get ready to try fly funky steps, fresh hip hop moves and cutting-edge choreography.

Highland Dance

A collection of steps and dances honouring Scottish tradition. Classes include floor and barre work, basic movements and the learning of traditional Highland dances. Programs are available from beginner to premier levels. Highland is an excellent dance style for developing precision, timing and control.
